On-Train Dining

Throughout the year we operate a number of Fish and Chip Specials, which are combined with the very popular Real Ale trains. Featuring ales from a number of local breweries, the delights of proper beer, a fish supper and steam trains all combine for a great value evening out. Advance booking essential!


Fish and Chip Specials & Real Ale Trains 2012

Join the Spa Valley Fish and Chip Special, and enjoy a traditional fish supper as you travel by steam train through the beautiful Kent and Sussex countryside. 

Saturdays: 14 April, 5 May, 14 July*, 11 August, 15 September

Two return trips from Tunbridge Wells West to Groombridge with a meal of cod and chips and an ice cream dessert. Trains depart Tunbridge Wells at 18:45, returning at 21:00. Fares £15 Adults/Seniors , £10 Children (2-14).

* On 14 July the train will run between Tunbridge Wells and Eridge (one round trip). Fare £17 Adults/Seniors, £11 Children (2-14).

Thursdays: 14 June, 12 July, 9 August, 6 September

A lunchtime return trip from Tunbridge Wells West to Groombridge with a meal of cod and chips and an ice cream dessert. Trains depart Tunbridge Wells at 12:15. Fares £15 Adults/Seniors , £10 Children (2-14).

Jubilee Special: Saturday 2 June

As part of our celebration of the Queen's diamond jubilee, we're running a special evening return trip from Tunbridge Wells West to Eridge with a meal of cod and chips and an ice cream dessert. Departing Tunbridge Wells at 18:45, and including on-board entertainment. Fares £20 Adults/Seniors , £13 Children (2-14).

Eridge Lunchtime Special: Tuesday 5 June

Thanks to the special bank holidays for the Queen's jubilee, we have the opportunity to run a lunchtime F&C train to Eridge; something we don't normally do. Departing from Tunbridge Wells West at 13:19 with a meal of cod and chips and an ice cream dessert. Fares £17 Adults/Seniors , £11 Children (2-14).

As always, real ale from local breweries, wine and other refreshments are available from our bar car ‘Kate’.

Serviettes, cutlery and condiments are all provided. If you wish you may bring your own plate!

Advance booking is essential so that we can have your meal ready on the day. The food will be served in heat retentive containers to ensure your order is kept hot.

Seats for the Real Ale Train only are also available (for two return trips), and may either be booked in advance or will be available on the day subject to space being available.

Please ring our booking office on 01892 537715, or call in at Tunbridge Wells West. Booking is open now and closes three days prior to the day of travel. A downloadable booking form will appear here shortly, but in the meantime, please call the booking office direct. If you get the answerphone, leave your name, number and a brief message, and we'll call you back as soon as possible.

Additional dates may be added subject to demand or for group bookings. Please check this website for any additional dates.

Those dates with this symbol next to it means the train operates on our midweek timetable and the train will depart at 12:15 for one return trip.

Limited seats are available and advanced booking is essential.
