Built in 1951, by Andrew Barclay & Co., Kilmarnock, this locomotive spent many years operating at Braehead Power Station, owned by the South of Scotland Electricity Board. The engine was initially preserved at the Strathspey Railway and named 'Clyde'.

Over the years, the locomotive moved South, working at a number of preserved railways. The engine moved to the Lavender Line, Isfield, Sussex and during this time it was repainted and renamed 'Lady Ingrid', after the owner's wife. The engine then moved to the Spa Valley Railway in January 1998 and became the mainstay of services that year, as well as hauling the special opening trains for High Rocks Halt alongside 'Fonmon'.

Withdrawn in 1999, for a ten year overhaul, the locomotive returned to traffic in July 2002, and is once again a regular performer on some of our smaller off-peak trains. Various modifications were made to the locomotive during its' overhaul, including a new bunker, a rocking grate and the fitting of a mechanical lubricator.

The engine, after a number of years hard work, was withdrawn in August 2008 after a leak was discovered on it boiler. To repair this will necessitate the boiler being lifted and sent away for repair. It is currently in store and being kept in a presentable condition for public display. It is hoped it will not be too long before this reliable engine is repaired and put back into service on the railway.
