1317 is owned by
Tunbridge Wells and Eridge Railway Preservation Society at the Spa Valley
Railway. The Oxted 1317 Support Group is part of the Preservation Society and is
actively carrying out restoration work on the Unit. To join in, you first need to be a member of Tunbridge Wells and
Eridge Railway Preservation Society, which brings you many benefits including
third party insurance cover for railway preservation work on the Spa Valley
Railway. Please see the Society’s membership page for more information.
So that we can expect
you, please let us know via Oxted1317atspavalleyrailway.co.uk (replace 'at' with
@ symbol) if you would like to come and work with us. We can lend protective wear required
for a first visit, but in the longer term we can suggest personal safety wear
which you would need to obtain yourself.
During the later part
of 2004 and early 2005, work is concentrating on removing rust and old paint
from the underframe and repainting, preventing leaks, replacing windows and
cleaning the interior.
