'High Weald Belle' Luncheon & Dining Trains

Dine in style at the Spa Valley Railway!

The High Weald Belle, proudly brought to you by the Spa Valley Railway and The Complete Lunch, is our popular dining train that operates on selected Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes throughout the year.
Travelling on the High Weald Belle, so named after the glorious countryside our railway passes through, you will be able to experience a traditional pastime of dining on a moving train hauled by one of our Steam and Heritage Diesel locomotives. Our wonderful caterers, the Complete Lunch, will provide you with an enjoyable and unforgettable dining experience as you travel on the beautiful Spa Valley line. The High Weald Belle is the perfect place to enjoy a celebratory meal with friends or an intimate dining experience for two. 
It is just £79.95 for a table of two or £159.95 for a table of four on our Sunday Luncheon High Weald Belle or £99.95 for a table of two or £199.95 for a table of four on our Saturday Evening Dining High Weald Belle (apart from 29th April when prices are £79.95 for a table of two or £159.95 fora t table of four).
On board is our award wining bar car 'Kate' which will be open for the duration and our waiters will happily pass along the train to take your drinks orders throughout the journey. Our current wine list is displayed below (however may be subject to change on the day).
When booking tickets online, please ensure you click the "choose your seats" option at the top of the page after you have entered your menu requirements.  This will open the seating for the train and you click on anything that is highlighted in blue to select your seats.  This then takes you back to the same page where you can then go to the bottom of the page and click checkout.  This then takes you to the page where you add your address and payment details to complete your booking.

Sunday Luncheon

Board your train at 12:20 for prompt departure from Eridge at 12.30 (sorry, but we can't wait for latecomers). Your three-course roast dinner will be served as the train makes two return trips through the beautiful Wealden countryside to Tunbridge Wells West, returning to Eridge for 15:20. 
Tickets are valid for the remainder of the day so you can stay on board for subsequent trips to enjoy after dinner drinks if you wish.
Our award winning bar car 'Kate' will be open for the duration serving alcohol as well as tea, coffee and soft drinks.
Tickets must be booked in advance and bookings close 48hrs prior to your time/date of travel - or earlier if sold out!

Saturday Evening Dining

Board your train at 18:45 for prompt departure from Tunbridge Wells West at 19:00 (sorry, but we can't wait for latecomers). Your evening dinner will be served as the train makes three return trips through the beautiful Wealden countryside to Groombridge, returning to Tunbridge Wells West for approximately 22:15. 
Our award winning bar car 'Kate' will be open for the duration serving alcohol as well as tea, coffee and soft drinks.
The inclusive price for travel and the meal is £99.95 for a table of two or £199.95 for a table of four.
Tickets must be booked in advance and bookings close 48hrs prior to your time/date of travel - or earlier if sold out!

This classic Pinot Grigio shows enticing aromas of citrus fruit and pear drops.
Hardys Varietial Chardonnay – 13%
A delicious dry Chardonnay with rich varietal melon and peach fllavours.
Mc Guingan Estate Sauvignon Blanc – 11%
A fine Sauvignon Blanc wine of delightful fresh and bright aromas with bold fruit flavours of zesty citrus and gooseberry.
Red
Mc Guingan Estate Merlot 12.5%
A wine with rich fruit flavours of plum and red berry, balanced by subtle oak.
Campo Viejo Rioja Tempranillo - 13.5%
A cherry red colour, its rich aromas have a pronounced intensity with an initial scent of ripe red fruit followed by gentle sweet notes of vanilla and spices.
Rosé

Blossom Hill White Zinfandel Rosé - 10%
A medium bodied wine filled with delightful aromas of strawberries and the flavour of red, ripe watermelon.
Sparkling
Torretta Di Mondelli Prosecco Brut (75cl) – 11%
This sparkling Prosecco DOC has a fine mousse and aromas of wisteria flowers and green apples.
Bottega Gold Prosecco DOC Brut (20cl) – 11%
A characteristically fruity and flowery bouquet with scents of Golden apple, Williams pear, acacia flowers and fresh lily.

Please note that only drinks purchased on board from our waiting staff may be consumed on any Spa Valley Railway dining trains. Diners who wish to bring their own wine (including sparkling) or champagne will be charged corkage per bottle at: £17 wine, £20 champagne and £25 wine box. 

Private hire High Weald Belle
Our High Weald Belle dining train is available for private hire on days we're already operating or on days when the railway is otherwise closed to the general public. This must be pre-booked at least two months in advance, and is dependent on our own services and our caterers. 
Private hire prices for a standard day for lunch start at £650.00 for the hire of our dining carriage at just £35.95 per person for a luncheon menu.
Private hire prices for an evening for dinner on days when we are already operating start at just £325.00 for the hire of our dining carriage at just £95.95 per table of two or £191.90 per table of four.
Private hire prices for a Steam train on days we are not already operating start at £1,200. The price will then vary dependent on the number of meals required and persons dining.
The menu can be tailored to suit your party and requirements. For a luncheon service on green timetabled days you can either start at Tunbridge Wells West, Groombridge or Eridge, and you will be able to travel for the remainder of our standard services that day. For an evening service you can only start from Tunbridge Wells West and will receive three return trips to Groombridge.

Terms & Conditions
  • All of our dining trains are advance booking only, we cannot accept passengers on the day. As these are immensely popular we recommend that you book early to avoid disappointment.
  • Our trains depart promptly, we cannot wait for latecomers.
  • Due to the fixed seating layout bookings are made per complete table of two or table of four.
  • Due to the layout of the dining carriages, parties of two may have to share tables. This means you may be sat at a table of four with another party of two.
  • Tables of two will be sold on a first come, first served basis and cannot be guaranteed under any circumstances.
  • Bookings can only be made with full payment.
  • Prices include train fare and meal but exclude drinks. Wines, spirits, beers, cider, soft drinks and teas/coffees are available from our waiting staff at additional cost.
  • Drinks advertised are subject to availability and may be altered without prior warning.
  • On Sundays the High Weald Belle dining option is an additional service as part of our standard Green weekend timetable. Tickets for non-dining (standard travel) are available on the day at our stations.
  • No discounts are available for this service.
  • For logistical reasons we reserve the right to move your party to another carriage if necessary.
  • Please note that only drinks purchased on board from our waiting staff may be consumed on any Spa Valley Railway dining trains.
  • Diners who wish to bring their own wine (including sparkling) or champagne will be charged corkage per bottle at: £17 wine, £20 champagne & £25 wine box. 

Menu & dietary requirements
  • All of our dining trains have a fixed menu which will be available on the website for each particular date.
  • If you require the vegetarian or gluten free option this must be ordered in advance. 
  • To avoid embarrassment on the day, please give details on the booking form or at least two weeks before if any member of your party has any special dietary requirements or allergies that require a different meal to be provided (which is however subject to availability and anything under two weeks we cannot guarantee to accommodate) e.g. vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, no nuts, no red meat, no mushrooms, no shellfish, etc. 
  • Please note that it is impossible for us to provide an alternative to the fixed menu if we are only advised on the day.

Refunds, Cancellations & Changes to bookings
  • We regret that there can be no refund for ‘no show’ customers.
  • ALL booking alterations, no matter how minor incur a £10 admin fee.
  • Cancellations notified in writing, at least four weeks before the booked date will be refunded less a £10 admin fee; shorter notice cancellations are not entitled to a refund but the Spa Valley Railway will try to re-sell the tickets.

If you wish to make an alteration, please note it is a £10 admin fee and our General Manager must be contacted with at least 4 weeks notice.

Accessibility
  • Our carriages used for dining were built in the 1960's and due to their internal dimensions physically disabled persons can only be accommodated if they are not confined to a wheelchair.

Facilities
  • Our train is equipped with two toilets and there are also toilets available at Tunbridge Wells West, Groombridge and Eridge.

Children
  • The High Weald Belle is not recommended for children under the age of 18.

Please Note
  • Whilst every effort is made to haul part of our dining trains with a steam locomotive and also our coaches as described, there may be the need to use a heritage 1960s diesel locomotive or other carriages subject to necessity.
  • The Spa Valley Railway reserves the right to make such changes for whatever reason without prior notice being given.
