Take a steam and heritage diesel train ride along the Spa Valley Railway!

We are open on Saturdays and Sundays in July, no trains will operate on ThursdaysTickets for our standard steam and heritage diesel train rides can be booked online hereTickets for train rides are valid all day, you can start and end your visit at any of our stations. You can either purchase tickets in advance or on the day. We also have our range of on train dining experiences taking place every operating day, details can be found here.

On Sunday 1st August, the Sussex & Kent Weald Stationary Engine Group will be at Groombridge where you can alight and see their historic engines in action on the platform!

Our next special event is the Summer Diesel Gala featuring visiting locomotive Class 33/0 33002 'Sea King' on 6th, 7th & 8th August.

FAQs

  1. Can I break my journey (i.e. alight at another station)? Yes, you can but we cannot guarantee you the same seats for your return later on.
  2. Can I fit more than 6 people in a compartment? No, they are designed to seat only 6 persons. 
  3. Are my seats allocated? Seats are allocated for dining experiences.
  4. Can I travel all day? Yes. This means enthusiasts can travel and come and go as they please all day.
  5. How are you managing numbers? We are monitoring online bookings and limiting ticket sales on the day. We have extended the length of our train to accomodate extra passengers and reduced dining down to one coach giving extra capacity.
  6. Do I have to wear a face covering? Yes, unless you are exempt or sat in a compartment with a door closed, otherwise in enclosed spaces face coverings must be worn.
  7. Do I need to print my eTicket? You can either print or show your eTicket on a mobile device. 
  8. What stations are open? Tunbridge Wells West, High Rocks, Groombridge & Eridge are all open to board and alight at. 
  9. Does this mean I can arrive by mainline train at Eridge? Yes, if you wish to make use of our mainline connection you can start and/or finish at Eridge.
  10. How long is one return trip? Around 1hr 15 minutes.
  11. Are steam engines running? Yes, along with a heritage diesel.
  12. Are tickets for a return trip? Yes, all tickets sold online are for a return journey.
  13. Do I have to purchase tickets in advance? No, but we recommend it to avoid queuing. Tickets are available on the day from all stations. 
  14. How much is it? £10 per adult, £9 per senior (60+), £5 per child (2-15yrs), £30 per family (2A+2C).
