We're returning Steam to the Spa Valley Railway over the August Bank Holiday and throughout September 2020!
You can join RSH No. 62 'Ugly' for a return trip to Groombridge from Tunbridge Wells West and enjoy the sights and sounds of steam as you take the leisurely journey through the High Weald.
To ensure Social Distancing of 1m+ can be maintained pre-booking is essential and all tickets are valid for one return trip from Tunbridge Wells West only. High Rocks station will be closed and access to Groombridge will be restricted to train ride ticket holders only for the duration that the train is at the station. You will be able to disembark at Groombridge to see the steam locomotive hauling your train, our station is large with plenty of space to socially distance from other passengers.
Travel will be inside one of five compartments, separated from other passengers and you can book up to 6 persons per compartment for a fixed price of just £40! A one-way system is in place at Tunbridge Wells West to ensure Social Distancing can be maintained. Tickets will be sent by email so please have access to show them to our volunteers on your phone upon arrival. Only persons with valid tickets to travel will be allowed onto the station.
Steam trains will depart from Tunbridge Wells West at 10:30, 12:30 and 14:30, returning 1hr later after a break to enjoy viewing the steam locomotive at Groombridge.
We are working on providing additional seats over the August Bank Holiday, check back soon.
