Join us for a once in a lifetime experience as you take to the controls of a Southern Railway Bulleid Light Pacific No. 34053 'Sir Keith Park'!
Built in 1947, the Battle of Britain Class 4-6-2's were once common sight around the Southern Region and now YOU, yes YOU, can take to the controls one of the most powerful Southern Railway locomotives ever built, named after Air Vice Marshal ‘Sir Keith Park who became Commander of 11 Group RAF, in April 1940. 11 Group was responsible for the fighter defence of London and South East England during the Battle of Britain, fought in the skies over Kent itself, between July and October 1940.
Board this magnificant machine at the former British Railways 75F depot of Tunbridge Wells West and under the careful instruction from our fully qualified locomotive crew you will drive the locomotive with its carriages to Eridge for a 10 mile return trip in the drivers seat. You can then remain on the Bulleid for a further return trip to Eridge enjoying it from the Fireman's side of the cab as a footplate passenger, a total of 20 miles on the footplate of 34053!
