Join us to celebrate the 125th Birthday of Caledonian Railway No. 828 on Saturday 31st August!No.828 was built by the Caledonian Railway Company at their St. Rollox engineering workshops in the Springburn district of Glasgow. She is one of 20 of her class which were built at St. Rollox between May and November 1899.No. 828 herself was delivered from the works at the end of August 1899 so the end of August 2024 is the perfect date to celebrate her turning 125!
On the 31st August we'll be operating our standard Green timetable alongside a heritage diesel, there will also be two additional evening services to Eridge hauled by a heritage diesel locomotive and No. 828 which you can travel on too!
These evening trains depart Tunbridge Wells West at 19:00 and 20:30, they do not call at High Rocks or Groombridge. Passengers can only board from Tunbridge Wells West as the departure time from Eridge varies due to the Murder Mystery experience taking place on the train.
Green TimetableOur Green timetable with slightly altered locomotive allocations is operating on Saturday 31st August to give the best of what 828 has to offer to our visitors. The 12:05 train from Eridge to Tunbridge Wells West will be when 828 celebrates her 125th Birthday with (subject to availability) mini cupcakes for all passengers travelling on board this train (whilst stocks last) being handed out on board as the train travels up the line. Once they're gone they're gone!
The Kent Whisky TrainWhat better way to sit back and enjoy a Scottish steam locomotive than by enjoying a tiple of whisky during the journey too! Full details for our Kent Whisky Train which departs Eridge at 14:45 on Saturday 31st August can be found here.
Murder Mystery or Evening Train TravelThe birthday of 828 doesn't stop when the last Green timetable train gets back, we are running one of our popular Murder Mystery evenings, you can book on this and find full details here.
If you'd just like to travel on the train that evening in our non-dining accomodation then you'd be more than welcome at no extra cost, or you can book an evening travel ticket valid from 17:00s at the bottom of this page.
*HIGH ROCKS HALTTrains do not stop at High Rocks unless we have been informed they are open to the public. Please check HERE before you visit to ensure you can alight at the station.
