Train Services this weekend - Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July
We are very sorry to advise that due to a faulty steam valve we are not able to use our steam locomotive this weekend.
This engine was built in August 1899 and at 125yrs old any defective components have to be manufactured.
The tooling required to manufacture and machine the valve has had to be imported from abroad, it cleared customs on Wednesday 9th July but we are still waiting delivery of this tool.
Once the tool has arrived we still need to make the new valve, machine it, fit it to the locomotive and steam it.
Sadly, this will not be possible before this weekend and we are left with no choice but to operate two heritage diesel locomotives in place of our booked steam and heritage diesel locomotives.
We had hoped to work around the clock to get 828 back into service but we have sadly been defeated on this occasion.
